The effectiveness of the feature relies on the fact that these generated addresses are indistinguishable from regular Apple user email addresses, which also utilize the @icloud.com domain.
In a notification sent to developers on Monday, Apple announced that it would transition its anonymously generated email addresses to a new domain, @private.icloud.com, within the next few weeks. This change is expected to simplify the process for apps and websites to identify private email addresses, potentially leading to an increase in the blocking of users who attempt to sign up anonymously.
Apple confirmed that existing anonymous email addresses will remain functional and will continue to forward emails without any disruption. However, the company indicated that app developers and email providers would need to adapt their filtering systems to ensure that emails directed to users relying on the Hide My Email feature are not affected.
