New A.I. surveillance systems have been put in place at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, aimed at deterring vandalism. This installation comes in response to claims made by President Trump about recent damage to the pool, specifically a reported 300-foot long gash in the new liner.
On June 22, 2026, our reporter Charlie Cotton observed the A.I. security cameras being delivered to the site. By the following day, the cameras were fully installed and operational, monitoring the area with advanced features.
The new surveillance technology includes capabilities such as real-time tracking, intrusion detection, high-definition monitoring, strobe lights, automated spotlights, and loudspeakers designed to issue warnings.
In addition to the installation of A.I. surveillance, President Trump is also implementing more traditional security measures. This includes re-establishing fences around the area and deploying the National Guard and U.S. Marshals for increased patrols, which has led to several arrests.
Previously, in May, Trump had asserted that the new pool liner was exceptionally durable, stating that it was so tough that it could not be cut even with a knife. However, his recent statements suggest a change in perspective, as he now claims that vandalism is a serious issue, despite many people expressing skepticism about the existence of such vandals.
Currently, Google Maps indicates that the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is 'Temporarily closed,' which raises concerns about the local wildlife, particularly the ducks that inhabit the area, as they may not be aware of the hazardous conditions.
