Thierry Henry Reacts to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Comments on Landon Donovan

By Riley Adams 1 month ago

Thierry Henry expressed his disbelief at Zlatan Ibrahimovic's defense of confidence over arrogance in response to Landon Donovan's remarks during a FOX Sports segment.

Thierry Henry recently provided his thoughts on a heated exchange involving Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Landon Donovan during a segment on FOX Sports. Henry, known for his insightful commentary, remarked, "Actually, I will skip that one. I just don’t get it. So because you are not 1-0 up or 2-0 up or 3-0 up after 15 minutes those words have to come out? But let’s concentrate on the game. We all knew what was going to happen. If people don’t know how Senegal can play and how good Senegal are then that’s on them."

The discussion was sparked by Donovan's comments, which were reiterated by former US player Alexi Lalas, who has made 96 appearances for the national team. Lalas praised the French team for their performance, stating, "The reality is that if they are arrogant, it’s because they can do things like that. The patience that they showed after a poor first half… to come back and provide a masterful second half. With the talent that they have and the big stars showing up, that’s pretty special."

In the midst of this analysis, Ibrahimovic interjected before presenter Rebecca Lowe could respond, succinctly countering Donovan's viewpoint. He stated, "It’s not arrogance, it’s confidence. Ignorant people will say it’s arrogance, intelligent people will say it’s confidence." This comment elicited a notable reaction from Henry, who appeared visibly surprised, with his eyes wide open.

The dynamic among the trio has led to many entertaining moments on FOX's coverage, particularly with Ibrahimovic often at the forefront. Recently, he participated in a lie detector test with James Corden, addressing various topics. During this segment, Ibrahimovic humorously claimed that having four versions of himself would improve FOX's current punditry lineup and asserted that he considered himself a better player than Henry.

The lie detector test also revealed Ibrahimovic's lack of respect for the opinions of some of FOX's analysts. When host Lowe referenced this segment, Ibrahimovic complimented two panel members, saying, "Rebecca, you look great. Thierry, you look sharp, Monsieur. Alexi ... we can discuss."

Ibrahimovic maintained that his comments were intended in a spirit of friendship, although he humorously stumbled over his transition into a commercial break, prompting a supportive pat on the shoulder from Lalas.

Lalas, known for his outspoken nature in punditry, recently caused a stir by calling Corden a "full kit w*****" during a live broadcast, a remark that would likely be deemed inappropriate on British television.

This incident has added to the lively exchanges among the pundits, with Henry and Ibrahimovic often providing memorable moments for viewers, particularly in the context of the ongoing Football World Cup.
