Payments Startup Flutterwave Achieves $3.2 Billion Valuation with Ripple's Support
Flutterwave, a leading African payments infrastructure firm, has reached a valuation of $3.2 billion following a Series E funding round that included an investment from Ripple.
Flutterwave, an African payments infrastructure company, revealed on Tuesday that it has completed a Series E funding round, achieving a valuation of $3.2 billion. This funding round includes a significant equity investment from the blockchain payments firm Ripple.

While Flutterwave did not disclose the specific amount raised in this funding round, the company stated that it has accumulated over $500 million in funding throughout its history.
Ripple's investment is part of a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing financial services across Africa. The cross-border payments sector, where Flutterwave primarily operates, faces numerous challenges in Africa, including fragmented banking systems, stringent foreign exchange regulations, currency instability, and the necessity of routing transactions through European hubs like London, which can lead to delays.
Despite these challenges, progress is being made with companies such as Flutterwave, which is addressing these issues through API unification. This approach aims to enable Africa to function as a cohesive market. Earlier in the year, Flutterwave acquired the African banking startup Mono to leverage its API technology. Additionally, in October 2025, the company launched stablecoin solutions for businesses in collaboration with Polygon Labs, enabling transactions to bypass traditional banking routes, which they claim will provide a more stable, quicker, and cost-effective method for transferring funds.
This latest partnership with Ripple will enable Flutterwave to enhance its digital asset offerings. This development is mutually beneficial, as Ripple is also seeking to strengthen its foothold in the African market. Currently, Flutterwave operates across 35 countries on the continent.
