Olivia Rodrigo Reveals Fans Wear Diapers for Front Row Concert Spots

By Casey Nguyen 1 month ago

Olivia Rodrigo shared her experience of fans wearing diapers to secure front-row spots at her concerts, sparking mixed reactions online.

Olivia Rodrigo has gained attention for her candid remarks about a surprising aspect of her concert experiences: some of her most dedicated fans wear diapers to secure a front-row position. During an appearance on KISS FM UK to promote her latest album, "You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love," the singer described encountering fans who go to extreme lengths to maintain their front-row status.

Rodrigo recounted, "I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show, and that’s been an experience as a performer that I have smelled." This revelation caught the hosts, Tyler West and Chloe Burrows, off guard as they had initially asked her about the worst place she had to relieve herself, which she sidestepped in favor of discussing the diaper phenomenon.

This isn't the first time Rodrigo has addressed this topic. At her headlining performance during the BST Hyde Park Festival, she noticed a fan holding a sign that read, "Wearing diapers for the front row." Rather than express disgust, she embraced the moment, saying to the crowd, "There’s a sign that says ‘wearing diapers for the front row’. Is that true? Did you guys wear diapers? You’re wearing a diaper right now to be in the front row? Wow. That is actually amazing. I love you. Thank you for doing that. That’s crazy."

Rodrigo seems to view this unusual dedication with a sense of admiration, stating, "Like the [Times Square] Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve, everyone is wearing diapers, they sit there all day. I think about it kind of often."

This phenomenon is not exclusive to Rodrigo's concerts. During Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, some fans also admitted to wearing diapers to avoid missing any part of the three-hour-long performance.

The singer's comments have elicited a range of reactions on social media. Music fans are divided over whether this practice signifies admirable dedication or crosses the line into excessive behavior. Supporters argue that fans invest significant amounts of money—often hundreds or thousands of dollars—on premium tickets and wait in long lines to secure the best viewing spots. Conversely, many others expressed their disgust at the idea of wearing diapers at a concert.

Looking ahead, Rodrigo is set to take her performances on the road. She will embark on The Unraveled Tour, supporting her new album, with shows across North America and Europe from September 2023 to May 2027. The album has been well-received, earning a spot on NME's list of the Best Albums of 2026 so far, and receiving a four-and-a-half star review upon its release.

In addition to her extensive tour plans, Rodrigo is scheduled to perform a remarkable eight nights at London's O2 in 2027. Fans are advised to secure their floor tickets early and consider their packing options carefully.
