Neymar to Miss Brazil's World Cup Match Against Haiti Due to Ongoing Injury Recovery
Brazil has confirmed that Neymar will not travel with the squad for their World Cup match against Haiti, as he continues his recovery from injury at their base in New Jersey.
Brazil has officially announced that Neymar will not participate in their upcoming World Cup match against Haiti, as the forward will remain behind while his teammates travel to Philadelphia. The 34-year-old player is still in the process of recovering his fitness, and the medical staff of the Selecao have opted to avoid taking any unnecessary risks with their star player.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed that Neymar will definitely miss the Selecao’s second group-stage match of the 2026 World Cup. He will not accompany the squad to Philadelphia for the match scheduled for Friday evening.
Instead of traveling with the rest of the team, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player will stay at the team's base to concentrate on his physical conditioning. According to the CBF's official statement, "He will stay in New Jersey to optimise the final phase of his recovery process, making use of the excellent structures of The Ridge hotel and the Columbia Park training centre."

This decision represents a significant change from the initial strategy put forth by head coach Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff. Originally, the plan was for Neymar to be integrated into the squad, gradually increasing his participation in training sessions while traveling to match venues to maintain team chemistry.
However, the medical team has chosen a more stationary approach to ensure that Neymar has access to specialized recovery equipment. Although he made a brief appearance on the field on Tuesday and engaged in warm-up drills with the team on Wednesday, he is still working under a controlled load compared to his teammates.
With Neymar officially ruled out for the match against Haiti, focus is shifting towards Brazil’s final group game against Scotland, scheduled for June 24. His availability for that match remains uncertain, as the coaching staff weighs the necessity for him to gain match rhythm against the potential risk of aggravating his injury ahead of the knockout stages of the tournament.
Ancelotti appears to be adopting a cautious approach, with the main goal being to have Brazil's all-time leading scorer ready for the knockout rounds. The decision on whether Neymar will play in the group finale or be preserved for the round of 16 will depend on how he responds to upcoming technical and tactical drills.

Neymar's ongoing absence has generated significant media discussion. However, within the locker room, the players understand the impact he has on the game. Veteran defender Danilo, during a pre-match press conference ahead of the Haiti clash, highlighted that Neymar's influence goes beyond just scoring goals and providing assists. He noted that Neymar's mere presence on the field forces opposing teams to alter their defensive strategies.
Danilo stated, "If you have a player like Neymar, the opponents become more tense and ask for help to mark him. So, with two players marking him, someone from our team will be alone. This can help a lot. Just being on the field, he can unbalance the opponent. We need to deal with reality, of course. We hope he's well and can help us. His quality has already been proven."
