During the interview, which featured French Montana as well, the atmosphere shifted dramatically when Max B realized his absence from the controversial ranking. He expressed his disbelief, stating, "I don’t even see my name up there. Now you know I’m putting my name on top. That’s crazy. You ain’t got The Don up there. You think all them n****s better than me?"

In an attempt to defuse the situation, Complex host Jordan Rose began reading names that were included in the list, such as Mos Def, MF DOOM, Ghostface Killah, and Prodigy. However, Max B was not willing to engage further with the topic.
