Jennifer Aniston has expressed her condolences following the death of James Burrows, a highly regarded television director and producer. Burrows passed away on Friday, June 19, at the age of 85.
Burrows was celebrated for his work in television, particularly for co-creating the iconic series 'Cheers' and directing every episode of 'Will & Grace' during its original run. His extensive career also included directing episodes of other popular shows such as 'Friends,' 'Frasier,' and 'Taxi,' amassing over 1,000 directing credits throughout his lifetime.
In response to the news of Burrows’ death, Aniston, who is 57 years old, took to Instagram on Saturday, June 20, to share her heartfelt tribute to the late director.
In her post, Aniston wrote, "Oh boy… Papa Burrows. The hardest thing about writing this is that you spent a lifetime making people feel loved, and now it feels impossible to put all of that love into a few paragraphs." She reminisced about how Burrows referred to the cast as his 'kids,' often asking, 'Where are the kids?' and joking about their performances. Aniston described him as a father figure who consistently checked in on her, expressing concern, celebrating her successes, and guiding her through both difficult and joyful moments.
She continued, "He spoiled us rotten. Most of all, he taught us—the kids—how important it is to love and respect one another. To take care of each other. To have each other’s backs and support each other, no matter what. And we did just that. I miss your voice. I miss your laugh. I miss your brilliance. Wherever you are, I hope someone is asking, 'Where are the kids?'"
In addition to her heartfelt message, Aniston shared several photographs of Burrows from various moments throughout the years, capturing his enduring presence in the lives of those he worked with.
Aniston's tribute follows similar remembrances from 'Will & Grace' stars Eric McCormack and Debra Messing, who also honored Burrows after his passing.
