Jelly Roll has publicly spoken about his recent divorce from Bunnie Xo, emphasizing their amicable relationship and addressing rumors during a concert on June 18.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, has publicly commented on his divorce from Bunnie Xo, also known as Alyssa DeFord, after nearly a decade of marriage. The singer addressed the situation during a concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, on June 18, 2025.
During his performance, Jelly Roll, 41, took the opportunity to clarify rumors surrounding their split, stating, "I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight, but while we’re talking about liars…the internet is a liar." He emphasized that this would be the only occasion he would discuss the matter, urging fans to capture the moment on their phones. He reassured the audience that he and Bunnie remain on good terms, saying, "Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today."
Jelly Roll denied any infidelity, asserting, "Nobody cheated on nobody." He referred to a recent episode of Bunnie's podcast, "Dumb Blonde," where she addressed rumors of her having a romantic involvement with Chad Kroeger. He encouraged fans to listen to her podcast for the truth, stating, "Every word of it is the truth."
He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt message to Bunnie, expressing gratitude for their time together. "Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that," Jelly Roll said.
Jelly Roll filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo on May 18, 2025, a fact confirmed by Us Weekly on June 15. Just hours before the news of their split became public, Bunnie shared a photo on Instagram, posing in pink lingerie with the caption, "She’s getting her sparkle back." She also posted a video lip-synching to Nickelback's "How You Remind Me," which many interpreted as a reference to a toxic relationship.
Prior to the split, Bunnie had responded to speculation about their relationship in her podcast, asserting that they had been trying to conceive a child. She explained, "Someone said the other day, ‘They used to always be together, and now you never see them together.’ I’m like, ‘Do you guys not know that for the past six months I’ve been trying to make a baby?'" She elaborated on Jelly Roll's demanding work schedule, stating, "He has to work to f***ing bring home the bacon. Luckily, I get the luxury of working from home."
The couple first met at one of Jelly Roll's concerts in Las Vegas in 2015 and married in the city's iconic Little White Wedding Chapel in August 2016. In the same month, Jelly Roll welcomed his son Noah Buddy with his ex, Melisa Ann Cowell. He also has a daughter, Bailee Ann, from a previous relationship with Felicia Beckwith, born during his incarceration in 2008 for drug dealing.
Jelly Roll has previously discussed the challenges in his marriage, including admitting to having an affair. In an October 2025 podcast, he described it as one of the worst moments of his adult life, expressing his love for Bunnie and the regret he felt over the situation. He remarked, "I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman."
Bunnie, in her February memoir "Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic," also discussed the impact of the affair on their relationship. She shared that healing from the betrayal was a lengthy process, stating, "I don’t think anybody can just snap out of it. It is a process. You’re literally grieving and you’re heartbroken but you’re still in love with this person." She emphasized the transformation their relationship underwent as a result of the challenges they faced.
