Protesters loudly called for the removal of Iran’s clerical regime, reflecting their broader concerns about the political situation in Iran.
In the lead-up to the match, Iran striker Mehdi Taremi expressed that the ongoing political tensions between the United States and Iran “undermine the joy” associated with the World Cup, highlighting the impact of geopolitical issues on sporting events.
