Harry and Meghan to Visit the UK with Family for the First Time in Four Years

By Jordan Hayes 1 month ago

Prince Harry and Meghan will return to the UK next month with their children, marking their first family visit in four years amid ongoing tensions with the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are scheduled to return to the United Kingdom next month with their two children, Archie, aged seven, and Lilibet, aged five. This visit will mark the family's first trip back to the UK in four years, as reported by various British media outlets including the BBC, the Telegraph, and ITV News.

The visit comes after a prolonged period of tension between the couple and the royal family following their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. During their time in the United States, Harry and Meghan have been vocal about their experiences, citing reasons such as tabloid intrusion, racism in British institutions, online abuse, and complex family dynamics for their departure. They have discussed these issues in televised interviews and through Harry's memoir.

Since leaving the UK, Prince Harry, now 41 years old, has made several brief trips back, including notable occasions such as the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022 and the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023. His last visit to the UK occurred in January 2023, when he attended court for a lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail over allegations of unlawful information gathering.

There has been speculation regarding the possibility of a reconciliation with his family, particularly since Harry had a face-to-face meeting with King Charles for the first time in 19 months during a previous visit. However, it remains uncertain whether King Charles will meet with his grandchildren during their upcoming visit. The last time Archie and Lilibet saw their grandfather in person was during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

Additionally, the Sussex family's visit is expected to coincide with an event marking one year until the start of the Invictus Games, the international sporting competition founded by Harry over a decade ago.
