Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, widely recognized as Tay Keith, a Grammy-nominated music producer, was found deceased in his Nashville apartment on Thursday afternoon. The notification of his death circulated rapidly across social media platforms.
According to Action News 5, the Metro Nashville Police discovered Chambers' body during a welfare check. Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected in the circumstances surrounding his death.
Tay Keith, originally from South Memphis, gained fame for his production work on the single "Look Alive" by rapper BlocBoy JB, which features Drake. He is also well-known for his contributions to Travis Scott's Grammy-nominated track "Sicko Mode," as well as Drake's song "First Person Shooter" featuring J. Cole. His production credits extend to notable artists such as Cardi B, Eminem, and Beyoncé.
While attending Middle Tennessee State University, Chambers earned a Grammy nomination for his work on "Sicko Mode." He graduated with degrees in Integrated Studies and Media Management.
"There wouldn’t be any point for me to come to college if I didn’t want to finish it — I could have just focused 100% on music," Chambers was quoted by MTSU. He reflected on his educational journey, stating, "By my last week of college, I had my first No. 1 single, so it didn’t make any sense to drop out."
Chambers shared a memorable experience of balancing his music career with academics, saying, "I remember having a flight from New York, and I had a test the same day. So, I flew back from New York that morning, went home, then went straight to class. It was crazy. But if I knew that I could do that, then there wasn’t anything stopping me but myself."
After the passing of his mother in 2021, Tay Keith became an advocate for cancer awareness. His final Instagram post, made on May 7, highlighted Chris Brown's new song, "Call Your Name," featuring Sexyy Red and GloRilla.
In 2025, Forbes included him in its "30 Under 30" list, recognizing his achievements at the young age of 23. The publication noted, "At 23, Tay Keith became a Grammy-nominated producer for his work on Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode,’ adding to his roster of clients like Cardi B, Eminem and music’s ‘Queen B’ Beyoncé."
