Faizon Love Arrested in Tampa, Florida Over Child Support

By Riley Adams 1 month ago

Comedian Faizon Love is currently in jail in Tampa, facing charges related to child support. The actor's legal troubles include a history of contempt of court rulings and previous arrests.

Comedian Faizon Love is currently incarcerated in a jail located in Tampa, Florida, where he is awaiting a bond hearing. The 58-year-old Cuban-born actor is facing two counts of contempt of court linked to unpaid child support obligations.

Love was arrested on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, and is set to appear in court on Friday, June 19, as confirmed by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Court documents from Florida reveal that a paternity suit was initiated against Love by Tiffany Lee, who is the mother of his child. On June 11, Lee reopened a case regarding the declaration of paternity, which has led to multiple motions for contempt against Love, as well as threats to suspend his driver’s license due to overdue child support payments.

Earlier this year, Love informed a family court judge that he was unable to pay the $250,000 he allegedly owed to Lee. He claimed to have been out of work for several years, stating that his highest gross income over the past five years was merely $13,000, according to a report by TMZ.

After failing to show up for a court hearing in April and not reporting to jail in May, a judge ordered Love to serve a 90-day sentence for contempt of court. His attorney explained that he missed the April court date due to a medical emergency.

The news of Love's arrest quickly spread across the Internet on Tuesday. He is particularly well-known for his performances in movies such as 'Friday,' 'Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,' 'B.A.P.S.,' 'Elf,' and 'Couples Retreat.' Additionally, Love provided the voice for Sean 'Sweet' Johnson in the popular action-adventure video game 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' and portrayed Wendell Wilcox in the sitcom 'The Parent 'Hood.'

This incident marks not the first time Love has faced legal trouble. In 2017, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a valet at the airport in Columbus, Ohio. For that incident, he received a suspended sentence of 180 days, as reported by TMZ.

In February 2025, he was also accused of attacking a female hotel clerk with a credit card machine after she informed him that she could not provide him with the room he had booked through a third party. Love pleaded not guilty in that case.
