Since the release of her debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," in 2023, Roan has experienced a remarkable surge in her creative output. Her breakthrough single in 2024, titled "Good Luck, Babe!", has garnered significant acclaim, earning her three Grammy nominations and securing the Best New Artist award.
In March 2024, she released another compelling track, "The Giver," and fans are eagerly anticipating her next song, "The Subway." Roan provided a preview of this upcoming track during her dynamic performance at the Governors Ball Music Festival held in New York City last summer. Recently, a fan account shared what seemed to be a sneak peek from the music video for "The Subway," further fueling anticipation among her followers.
In a poignant red-carpet interview at the Grammy Awards in early February, Roan spoke candidly about the state of transgender rights in the United States, particularly in light of the political climate under the current presidential administration. She expressed her concerns, stating, "It’s brutal right now," and emphasized the enduring presence of trans individuals: "Trans people have always existed, and they will forever exist, and they will never, no matter what happens, take trans joy away, and that has to be protected more than anything."
Roan also highlighted the profound impact that trans girls have had on her musical journey, stating, "Trans girls have been such an incredible inspiration for my music journey. I want every trans person to know that pop music celebrates you and cherishes you. I’m committed to being your advocate and ally in every possible way."
