The pressure on Ancelotti to give Endrick a starting position has intensified following Brazil's unsatisfactory 1-1 draw against Morocco in their opening group match in New Jersey. The 19-year-old forward did not see any game time, leading to criticism from fans and analysts alike. As Brazil prepares for a pivotal Group C encounter with Haiti, Ancelotti has emphasized that external opinions will not dictate his decisions regarding team selection. He reassured that Endrick will have his chance when the moment is appropriate.
During a press conference, Ancelotti expressed his confidence in Endrick, reiterating that he would not rush the player's development. The former Real Madrid manager compared Endrick's abilities with those of other attackers in the squad, highlighting the teenager's distinct qualities.
"I will put Endrick in at the right time. We have to wait a little. He will be important," Ancelotti stated. He further elaborated that Matheus Cunha is more of a team player with characteristics akin to an attacking midfielder, while Igor Thiago possesses different attributes, being strong in duels and aggressive in ball recovery. In contrast, Ancelotti described Endrick as unique, stating, "He is neither one nor the other. He is something different, for me personally. He is an extraordinary talent."
Although Endrick has remained on the bench, Ancelotti regards him as a crucial player for Brazil's future. The coach believes that the forward's exceptional qualities set him apart from other attacking options. He also emphasized Endrick's mentality as a significant factor in his faith in the player's growth.
"Brazil will take advantage of his qualities in this and the next World Cup," Ancelotti acknowledged. "He is patient, not in a hurry, and very mature for his age. That's a very important aspect. Having family nearby is also important for a young player."
