Allstar JR Faces Felony Charges in NBA Ben10 Shooting Incident
Detroit rapper Allstar JR has been charged with aggravated assault after a shooting incident that critically injured fellow rapper NBA Ben10 in Houston earlier this year.
Detroit rapper Allstar JR, whose real name is Jeremy Christopher Ford, is facing felony charges in Harris County, Texas. Authorities allege that he critically injured fellow rapper NBA Ben10 during a shooting incident that occurred on April 8 at Confessions, a restaurant located near Kirby Drive and the Southwest Freeway in Houston's Upper Kirby area.
Ford, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault causing a traumatic brain or spine injury. The alleged victim, Ben Anthony Fields, known professionally as NBA Ben10, suffered severe spinal injuries as a result of the shooting, according to court documents and medical personnel reports.
Investigations by Houston police revealed that Fields was found with a gunshot wound after violence erupted within the restaurant. Medical staff later reported that his injuries have left him without sensation below the waist, raising concerns that his paralysis could be permanent.
The shooting incident reportedly began when several individuals confronted Ford in the restaurant and attempted to rob him of jewelry, including chains he was wearing. Police stated that the situation escalated quickly as more people joined the confrontation. Allegations suggest that Ford was assaulted by members of the crowd before he produced a handgun and fired multiple shots.
As a result of the shooting, two men sustained critical injuries, although officials have not disclosed the identity of the second victim involved in the incident. This case has garnered significant attention within hip-hop circles, given the prominence of both artists in the rap community. Allstar JR is known for his contributions to Detroit street rap and collaborations with Midwest artists, while NBA Ben10 has gained recognition through his music career and association with rapper NBA YoungBoy.
In addition to the Harris County charges, Ford is facing other legal challenges; he was arrested by federal agents in Michigan in late April on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This federal case is still pending. Neither Ford nor his legal representatives have publicly commented on the allegations in Harris County.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, with prosecutors continuing to review evidence related to the incident. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges or arrests in connection with the case. Currently, Ford is in custody as both the federal firearm prosecution and the Harris County criminal case move forward through the judicial system.
