Allstar JR Faces Felony Charges in Connection with NBA Ben10 Shooting

By Jordan Hayes 1 month ago

Detroit rapper Allstar JR has been charged with aggravated assault after a shooting involving fellow rapper NBA Ben10 at a Houston restaurant earlier this year.

Detroit rapper Allstar JR, whose real name is Jeremy Christopher Ford, aged 36, is facing felony charges in Harris County, Texas, after being accused of critically injuring fellow rapper NBA Ben10 during a shooting incident at a Houston restaurant earlier this year.

The charges against Ford include aggravated assault causing traumatic brain or spine injury, linked to the shooting that took place on April 8 at Confessions, a restaurant located near Kirby Drive and the Southwest Freeway in Houston's Upper Kirby neighborhood.

The alleged victim, rapper Ben Anthony Fields, known professionally as NBA Ben10, reportedly sustained severe spinal injuries during the incident, as detailed by investigators and medical personnel in court documents.

According to the Houston police, Fields was found with a gunshot wound after the violence erupted inside the restaurant. Medical staff later communicated to investigators that the injuries left him without sensation below the waist, leading authorities to believe that the paralysis affecting his lower body may be permanent.

This prosecution in Harris County adds to Ford's ongoing legal issues. In late April, federal agents arrested him in Michigan after he was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a case that is still pending.

Investigators suggest that the shooting incident in Houston began when several individuals confronted Ford in the restaurant, allegedly attempting to rob him of jewelry, including chains he was wearing at the time. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in multiple people joining the altercation.

Authorities claim that Ford was assaulted by members of the crowd before he reportedly drew a handgun and fired several shots, resulting in critical injuries to two men during the incident. The identity of the second victim has not been publicly disclosed.

The case has drawn significant attention within hip-hop communities, as both artists have established connections to rap culture. Allstar JR is known for his contributions to Detroit street rap and collaborations with other Midwest artists, while NBA Ben10 has gained recognition through his music and association with the prominent rapper NBA YoungBoy.

As of now, neither Ford nor his legal representatives have publicly commented on the allegations in Harris County. The investigation remains ongoing, with prosecutors continuing to review evidence related to the shooting at the restaurant, and they have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges or arrests.

Ford is currently in custody as both the federal firearm prosecution and the Harris County criminal case progress through the judicial system.
